Terms of Service

By using Watchlert you agree to these terms. They are kept short and in plain language. If something is unclear, email us.

What Watchlert does

Watchlert is a website-change monitoring service. You give it a URL; it periodically fetches that page, compares the content to the previous version, and emails you a diff when something changes.

Watchlert is operated from the Netherlands. These terms are governed by Dutch law. Any disputes shall be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.

Fair use — what you may and may not do

You may use Watchlert to monitor publicly accessible web pages for personal or professional purposes. By using the service you agree not to:

  • Monitor pages you do not have permission to access.
  • Use the service to send an unreasonable number of requests to a target website (we apply reasonable fetch intervals ourselves, but misuse of the API is not allowed).
  • Attempt to circumvent authentication, rate limits, or plan restrictions through technical means.
  • Use Watchlert for any illegal purpose under Dutch or EU law.
  • Re-sell or sublicense the service without written permission.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, without prior notice in serious cases.

Free tier and limits

The current free plan allows 1 monitor per account with daily automated checks. These limits may change as the service grows. We will notify existing users by email before reducing any limit that affects their active monitors.

No warranties — service provided as-is

Watchlert is provided as-is, without any warranty, express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

  • The service will be available at all times or without interruption.
  • Every change on a monitored page will be detected (JavaScript-rendered content, bot detection, and rate limiting on the target site can all affect results).
  • Alerts will be delivered within any specific time frame.
  • Data will be retained indefinitely — we may impose storage limits in the future.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Watchlert and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Your data

You own the data you submit to Watchlert (URLs, account information). We use it only to deliver the service. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture on what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You may delete your account at any time from the dashboard, which permanently removes all your data.

We may delete inactive accounts (no login for 12+ months) after giving 30 days' email notice.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change we will update the date at the top of this page and notify you by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the service after that date means you accept the updated terms.
